Five years ago, vampires came out of hiding and took over the world. It was meant to be a quick enslavement but it turned into a bloody battle that brought humanity to the brink of extinction.

Isabelle Bryant is one of the "lucky" survivors, now living in hiding, scavenging for food through deserted towns.

And she's tired of it.

So she's devised a plan find the king of the vampires and drive a stake through his heart.

Except that wickedly sensual king Marcus is nothing like the monster she expected. And while landing on his bed was part of the plan all along, discovering that he might hold the key to humanity's survival certainly wasn't. The catch? Saving humanity also means ensuring vampire survival. It means giving up hope for a return to a human-ruled world.

As sparks fly and hate becomes heat, Isabelle must pick a side -- before darkness devours them all.

You do not want to buy this book. It's a great book with a wonderful story line, great characters and I was chomping at the bit to keep going and at 83% on my kindle it abruptly ends on a major cliffhanger. But that's not the worst of it...I went on to buy the next book which was $2.00 more expensive and it ended up being a novella ALSO no ending AND you can't purchase the 3rd and final book on Kindle. It's says "not available". Talk about unprofessional, unrealistic and just plain wrong.

City of the Fallen Diana Bocco 9781490550107 Books Reviews

This was a surprising little gem that I forgot to put on my TBR when I picked it up on . I came across it scrolling thru my this afternoon, and started reading the first chapter. Hooked! I loved it! This book had a surprisingly well developed plot, and I enjoyed the main characters. The writing was really well done, and I am looking forward to the next book... ends in a cliffhanger, but not annoyingly so. Well done!
Vampires rule the world and it has fallen to ashes. To survive humans offer themselves as pets. Our FH is on a mission to kill the vampire king but falls in love with the man behind the creature. Intriguing view points and a uni dorsal problem have humans and vampires needing each other. Excited to see where this goes.
This is my first book from this author and I have already purchased the next one. I loved this story of Isabelle and Vampire King Marcus and their challenges. The blossoming relationship between them happening so quickly and the intensity of their physical/emotional bond is incredible. Her interest in finding a cure for the rogues adds another facet to their story. I can't wait to read the next book.
Not totally different. In the beginning the heroine gets one look at her arch enemy, that she has risked her live and/or torture in her attempt to kill, and decides to have sex with him instead. I hate it when books start that way. But I kept reading and found some things to like. The plot is off to a good start, with good vampires, bad vampires and the human race in a war to survive. The heroine, Belle, is actually a doctor, and is involved in the battle. I think the characters need more work, but the writing is pretty good. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
Not for ages under 17. In a world where vampires have nearly wiped out the human race and dying out themselves, two adversaries find love and hope in a desperate attempt to save both species. Rabids, starving crazed vampires, are rapidly increasing in numbers. The vampire king is desperately trying to find a cure for his people and finds it in the arms of a beautiful woman. She came to kill him, in hopes of saving her brother and friends, what they both found was a bond powerful enough to give them both a new purpose in bringing peace between both species. Will their love overcome the obstacles between them or will the world fall into madness? Can hardly wait for the continuing story. Great read.
I loved both of these books. I stayed up until 230 AM and read the first one from cover to cover. I got the second one and stayed up till 1200 AM and read the entire book. I am very invested in these characters especially Marcus and Belle. However, I am beyond furious that would sell the first two books in this series and then not have the final book to complete the story. I might now never know what happened to all of these characters. That is a total disservice to your customers. The only way to get the final book is to download it to a Nook and I have a . I would strongly urge to get access to the 3rd and final book in this Dark Tide series.

Isabelle Bryant, her brother and a handful of others have survived five years after vampires rose from the shadows to claim Earth as their own. The human race has nearly been wiped out and Isabelle is tired of hiding and scavenging to survive. Her plan is to turn herself over to the vampire king’s compound, become a vampire pet and hopefully get close enough to kill the king. Cut the head off the cobra and maybe humans can survive. She hadn’t counted on becoming pet, and more, to the king himself or for Marcus to take her into his confidence. You see, there’s a bigger threat than vampires out there and if she kills Marcus as planned then she would be dooming all humans to extinction or worse. Caught between love and loyalty Isabelle has a tough decision to make.

I have a soft spot for post-apocalyptic/dystopian tales and this one is a bit different. Instead of zombies overrunning the world though it’s vampires. Tired of hiding in the shadows they have risen up and they have no intention of letting humans have control again. Going from seven billion to a million or two is a huge blow, but Isabelle wants to try to get humans back in the driving seat. I’ll give her an A+ for guts. The world building is decent and I can picture what it’s like to live in her new reality. Told from the POV of both Isabelle and Marcus, I got a pretty good idea of their personalities. There are a few decent secondary characters, but for the most part it’s an interaction between Isabelle and Marcus. I like that there is a bigger picture than just Marcus and his followers. There’s his brother who wants the throne for himself as well as a virus that is consuming vampires at an alarming rate. My only complaint is that the story ends in a cliffhanger. I am so not a fan of those especially when there is a climatic scene at the end that has no resolution. Harumph! All-in-all though, a decent start to a series and a great intro to a new-to-me author.
